Controlled Penetration Testing
Course Overview This is an advanced, hands-on, intrusion and countermeasures course designed for those who need to learn how to protect computers, networks and internet sites from ATTACKS. It includes the latest EXPLOITS and new tools that help determine the source of the intrusions.
Goals and Objectives Upon the completion of this
course, students will be able to:
| • |
Recognize the tools used to capture passwords and how sniffers and Trojan horses occur |
| • |
Improve security, capture audit trails and enforce security procedures |
| • |
Apply scanning tools to discover weaknesses |
Topics Discussed
This class will include a demonstration of the tools available and how they would be applied.
| • |
Local and Remote Attack Strategies |
| • |
Computer Security Audits and Practical Principles |
| • |
State-of-the-Art Penetration Techniques, Policies & Procedures |
Course Benefits
Actual practice of attack techniques and intruder tools improves the awareness but, more significantly, advances skills to apply prudent and technical mitigation techniques. Gaining these skills helps improve the defenses for systems and provides a basis for counter-intrusion defenses.
Hands-on Exercies
Student will apply hands-on exercises and perform attacks on a victim. Scanning and Penetration techniques will be covered. State-of-the-art intruder techniques, including RCP hi-jacking and password sniffing programs are applied in practical exercises.
